Born on November 19, 1948, in Michigan, Allen had the position of senior pastor in the New Bethel Church of God in Ohio. The church was built in 1985 and since then he had been the pastor there. Allen was well known for his amazing vocal range. He had an energetic voice which used to influence the audience a lot. He became famous for having created his group in 1969 in Detroit where he was the lead vocalist.
