Rae Sremmurd is an American hip-hop duo originating from Tupelo, Mississippi, formed by Slim Jxmmi and Swae Lee. The two brothers, Aaquil Iben Shamon Brown and his younger brother Khalif Malik Ibn Shaman Brown were born in Whittier, California. Both of them started practicing, dancing, and writing music together at an early age.
In 2013, they first signed a record deal with Mike Will Made-It EarDrummers imprint. They released their debut album, SremmLife, in 2015. The album was certified platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). They kept on releasing new albums almost every year, and all of them were huge successes.

- The Brown brothers, along with Tupelo, founded a hip hop band called ‘Dem Outta St8 Boyz’. The two brothers started composing their own songs and posted them on social media platforms. In 2010, they released the single ‘Party Animal.’ They participated in BET’s show 106 & Park in Memphis, Tennessee. Together with Andre, in 2011, they participated in 106 & Park and performed an original song, ‘My Diddy.’
- In 2014, they released their second single, ‘No Type.’ In the same year, Brooklyn music producer Baauer released the track ‘One Touch,’ and Rae Sremmurd was the lead single from his EP ß.
