Norman Gene Macdonald was born on 17th October 1959. He is a popular Canadian standup comedian, actor, and writer recognized for his deadpan technique. Before in his career, he composed for the sitcom Roseanne and brought in guest arrivals on events. Macdonald was then a staff unit on SNL for almost five years, containing docking the Weekend Update portion for three sequels. After quitting SNL, he showed in the 1998 film Dirty Work and his sitcom.

In 1988, Macdonald married Connie Vaillancourt, with whom he has a son, Dylan, born 1993. The couple separated in April 1999. Soon after, MacDonald starred in his first movie entitled Dirty Work, released to theatres in 1998. The film featured veteran actors and comedians like Jack Warden, Don Rickles, Chevy Chase, Chris Farley, and Adam Sandler. Later that year, MacDonald would also lend his voice to one of the animals in the Eddie Murphy remake of Doctor Dolittle.
