Who is Billy Crystal?

William Edward Crystal is an American comedian, writer, director, actor, singer, television host and producer. Crystal had studied acting in HB Studios. At New York University, he was a major in film and television directing.  He completed his graduation from New York University with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in 1970. Martin Scorsese remains one of his tutors, and other famous screenwriters, directors like Christopher Guest and Oliver Stone were his classmates.

On March 14, 1948, Billy Crystal was born in Manhattan, New York, and was raised on Long Island. He is the youngest of three sons born to Helen (Gabler) and Jack Crystal. His father was a well-known concert promoter who co-founded Commodore Records, and his mother was a homemaker.

When that did not materialize, he decided to study acting, eventually graduating from the ‘New York University Tisch School of Arts’. He began his career as a standup comedian in New York City and then moved to Los Angeles to act in television shows and films.

Hit movies that Crystal had starred in include When Harry Met Sally, City Slickers, and Forget Paris. He has produced nearly half of the movies he has starred in. He has also directed several projects, including the made-for-movie TV 2001 and 61* and the first Comic Relief. Crystal also co-wrote and directed America’s Sweethearts.

• Before Billy Crystals’s notable role in the television series SOAP, he made small appearances in various TV shows at the beginning of his acting career.
• He started his career as a television host with his show The Billy Crystal Comedy Hour which unfortunately was cancelled after its two episodes in 1982. He then secured his place in the cast of Saturday Night Live after hosting the show twice and then the season finale of the show’s ninth season. Billy Crystal hosted The Grammy Awards for three years in a row. 
• Crystal made his debut in films with the movie Rabbit Test in 1978. In his later years, Billy was also seen in various action comedies like Running Scared and more. Crystal’s 1989 movie, When Harry Met Sally, remains the most loved romantic comedy film of his career. He also acted in various award-winning and successful comedies like City Slickers in 1991, Distruction Harry in 1997, and Analyze This 1999.
• Crystal starred, wrote and directed the 1992 movie Mr Saturday Night and then the 1995 romantic comedy, Forget Paris. He also directed the movie 61, which was made for television. 
• Marvellous! was an album released by Crystal that included all his standup-up materials. He then released a successful single called You Look Marvelous. His autobiographical record titled Still Foolin’ Em was released in 2013, and its audiobook was nominated for The Grammy’s.
